Minutes of the September 12, 2009 Executive Committee Meeting
THE DEMOCRATIC CLUB OF CLAREMONT Meeting of the Executive Committee Minutes – September 12, 2009, 9:30 AM Scrooby Lounge MSA The meeting Agenda was approved. MSA The ExComm minutes for August 8 and the General Membership minutes for July 27, 2009 were approved as submitted. Debi Evans reported that we have received approximately $700 in dues and donations in the last 2 months. This is in large part due to the efforts of Mike Davis’ telephoning the unpaid members. A big Thanks for his efforts. MSA (Debi) To pay the Storage unit fee for 11 mos. in advance and we will get 12th month free. Committee Reports:
Kudos to David Levering for organizing an informative forum on Health Care Reform. Carolee has organized a contingent of Claremont volunteers for the LACoDem Party booth at the Fair. She is trying to get the entrance tickets a day before each shift so there will be less fuss for volunteers. The Food Drive was very successful. Zephyr asked Carolee to put a Thank You announcement in the Courier for all the public support. Carolee will send a letter to Victoria Din of the Claremont College Democrats inviting her to attend an ExComm meeting. She had previously sent a letter requesting funding for the College club. Programs:
Holiday Party: Target date is December 6th. Carolee is still searching for a venue. Most public places are about $500. Lois suggested the Scrooby Lounge which would be free – though perhaps a bit small. Some members prefer a catered affair over a potluck. Carolee will continue to search for a solution. MSA (Gar, Carol) for DCC to become a member of Sustainable Claremont at the Bronze level ($100.) Sustainable Claremont advocates to the public and to the City for environmentally friendly solutions for all manner of activities. Organizations as well as individuals can join. Bob Gerecke reports that the PAC for the Democratic HQ is now ready for our club to loan them $12,000 as previously agreed. Bob has prepared a Note for the President and Treasurer to review. MSA (Debi, Bob) to accept the resignation of Ted Radamaker as Publicity Chairman. Merrill again encouraged the use of the Web Forum on our website. Ned will fix the web page so it is a little more user friendly and is less cluttered on the opening page. Our Death Penalty Resolution will be placed on the web page for all to read prior to an endorsement vote at the next General Meeting. Veteran’s Day – we will contact Chuck Farritor to see how our club can participate in any activities. Meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m. Respectfully submitted, Carol WhitsonUpcoming Events: September 29, 2009 General Meeting at Pilgrim Place at 7:00 p.m. You must be logged in to make comments on this site - please log in, or if you are not registered click here to signup
